Clear height
Storage is bought in cubic metres, not square feet. Clear height under the roof decides how high you can rack, and it is very hard to change later.
Floor loading and flatness
Racking legs and forklift wheels put heavy point loads on the floor. The slab, base and joints must be designed for them, or the floor cracks and the racking leans.
Truck movement
Turning space, dock positions and yard size decide how many trucks you can handle at once. Plan them before the building is placed on the plot.
Fire requirements
The goods you store decide the fire system. Planning hydrants, sprinklers and the fire water tank from day one avoids delays to the fire NOC.
