Industrial shed cost per sq ft in Gujarat depends mainly on clear span, eave height, steel weight, roofing sheet specification, crane loads and foundations. Two quotes with the same rate can differ hugely in steel tonnage and in what is included. Compare steel weight, sheet thickness and whether civil work, flooring and erection are in the price, then get an exact quote after a site visit.
1. Span and height
Wider clear spans and taller eave heights need heavier steel sections. A shed with internal columns usually costs less per sq ft than a column-free one of the same size.
2. Steel section and weight
This is the biggest variable. Two quotes with the same “rate” can use very different steel weights. Always ask for the steel tonnage, or the kg per sq ft, behind the price.
3. Roofing and cladding sheets
Sheet thickness, coating and profile change both the price and how long the roof lasts. Insulated or polycarbonate sections add cost.
4. Crane loads and mezzanines
An EOT crane, or a mezzanine floor, needs heavier columns, crane runway beams and stronger foundations.
5. Foundations and soil
Soil conditions, plinth height and flooring specification can change the civil cost a lot. Some quotes leave civil out altogether.
6. Extras that are often left out
- Gutters, down-take pipes and ventilators
- Skylights and louvres
- Industrial flooring
- Painting and anti-corrosion protection
- Fire fighting system
- Compound wall
How to compare two shed quotes
- Check the steel tonnage, not just the rate per sq ft
- Check the sheet thickness and coating
- Ask whether foundations and flooring are included
- Ask who does erection: their own team or a subcontractor
- Ask how progress will be reported during the job
